Friends in Low Places

We arrived home last night, and although we're missing little Lu, we both think it really was the best decision. On Saturday, we met the couple who took her (they have one boy and one girl, not two girls as I said) and they were really sweet and the wife fell in love with Lucy immediately, so that made me feel good. Apparently she told her husband that he was either giving her another baby or one of these dogs! She carried Lucy around for a few hours at the wedding and just doted on her. They've also had dogs before so they'll know what to expect. Drew is enjoying the attention lavishing he is receiving now that he's an only dog again! Not to mention the freedom to chew his rawhide without her trying to steal it. ;) I'm still a little sad, but I know we did the right thing and it felt so good to see how happy Lucy made the other family.

The wedding was a blast. It was a very casual, low-key affair held in their gorgeous back yard, but loads of fun. One of my favorite moments was when they played Garth Brooks' "I've got Friends in Low Places" during their photo slideshow. There was enough alcohol to fill a small army--brought up from California by yours truly since Oregon liquor is state regulated and ridiculously expensive. Quite a few of my high school teachers attended, so it was strange to see them drunk and dancing. There was a bit of hanky panky at the bar, which amused me and shocked my poor mother - two wasted women doing body shots off each other then making out for the camera (and their, erm, boy toys). My mother's thoughts: "And that's why I quit drinking when I was young. [pause] Actually, I don't think I could ever have drank that much." My grandma's response to my mother? "I could." Ha!

It was a very amusing wedding and lots of fun. It's nice to attend weddings where you don't have to be uptight the whole time! :)
