I finished my short story last night! Holy cow, I think that's the first time I've ever written a story in a day. Of course, I haven't even begun to edit it, but still, it made me feel really productive and definitely was a boost for the old confidence.

And now a story for you, dear reader. Yesterday I decided to walk to Santana Row with Drew. It's a mile walk to Santana, so a 2 mile walk roundtrip. It's a nice walk for the most part, except you do walk through a freeway underpass riddled with pigeon poo. Bleurgh! Anyway. Once we reached Santana, I was going to treat myself (for the writing, not the walking) to a latte. I was a little nervous because I knew I'd have to tie Drew up outside the shop while I bought my drink. I've only done that once and he cried the entire time, even though he could see me. This time started off really well. He sat there patiently watching me as I paid for my drink. He was shaking, but still, no full-blown crying. But then. He decided to stand up, and in the process, the chair that I tied him to moved with him. He thought it was chasing him, so he freaked and moved further, and of course it followed and then crashed to the ground scaring the daylights out of him, meanwhile I'm trying to get outside to stop him and he bolts for the road! When I finally catch him, he's crying and shaking and terrified to death. The people outside weren't sure whether to panic or laugh hysterically, but after my rescue I think they did the latter. Since I hadn't received my order yet, a nice lady sitting outside offered to sit with him while I went in to grab it. Needless to say, he was wound up for the next hour. This is very similar to the incident in the pet store last week when he knocked over a bunch of tall boxes and in his panic to escape pulled more and more down with his leash. I have a nice blue bruise on my arm from that adventure. Forgot to mention it? Oops.

Congrats on the short story! That is awesome. :-)
Poor Drewsers. He must have been so scared. And poor you! Can't even get a latte without creating a big scene these days. ;-)

Oh my, I'm sorry Angie, but it made me laugh. But only because he's okay.

It reminds me of a time when Husband and I had a dog. Husband took the dog out while he went down to the local cafe to get some breakfast. When he got back to the house, he was dogless. I asked where the dog was, and he looked a bit stunned and then said 'Oh, no, she's tied up outside the cafe, still.' Oops.

Thanks Kris. He was pitiful. I can't take him anywhere without a scene of some sort!

It's okay, JJ, it was terribly funny, besides the one moment of panic. I'm one of those people who laughs when others fall (unless they're really hurt), so I totally understand.
That is a great story! Haha. Probably the only reason I haven't done that yet is because Drew would howl to let me know. :)
