HARRY!

22 days and counting...

I am such a dork, but this makes me almost tear up. Nine years ago I made Husband take me to the midnight showing of the very first movie, which just happened to fall on our three-month anniversary of marriage. At that time there were only four books, and I'd re-read them I don't know how many times. The years have flown by, and still I eagerly await each new Harry Potter release. These books and films have marked important milestones in my life over the years--getting engaged the summer I started reading the books; the release of book 5 while I lived in London; speculating over the details of the final book with two best friends, while secretly setting them up using their shared love for all things Harry (they later married, btw!). I will be so sad to see it end, but what a ride it has been!

I am *really* looking forward to the 1st part of the finale movie. If no one wants to go with me I'll go myself. (although I am sure I'll be able to find a few people to go with!)

As excited as I am to see the first of the last, my true joy lies in the fact that my husband is now counting down the days. I have helped to make him a Potter follower.

Sarah, I hope you find someone to go along with you. I am so excited too! I really want to see the midnight showing, but I don't think anyone is willing. *grins*

Darcy, yay, nicely done! I'm glad that hubs of yours has joined the fan club. I made mine into a fan too. Maybe the stars will align and we can get the whole group together to see the last installment next summer...

I totally understand how you feel. I feel the same but it's been something we've done as a family. Son read the first one at six (yes, precocious) and in later years for books six and seven or so, he and I queued up at midnight to buy the books together. I'll be so sad that it's ended too.

Jenny, that's been one of the best parts of the HP phenomenon...the excitement of waiting for the next book. I'm actually a little sad my kids won't have that when I share the books with them.
