Research should help organize your mind and solidify the details of your story and its setting. I spent all day yesterday researching and instead of clarity I end up with this:
Pah! I have enough to do already, thank you very much, and this does not fit into the world of Angie, where everything has its place.

That actually looks pretty tidy to me. Love your notebooks, very colourful!
It looks very tidy to me, in fact I think I may need to tidy up our desk!
Yvonne, Aren't they fun? Pretty notebooks are so inspiring.
Yvonne and m&t,
Really? Oh dear, must be my OCD then. I prefer the whole thing to be cleared and all the remaining work-related papers must be neatly stacked. Drives husband crazy because if he sets any papers on there, I notice immediately and begin nagging. ;) My old boss used to laugh too because his desk looked like a tornado hit it! Clutter distracts me and instead of writing, I just want to clean.
Looks like the world of Angie just met the world of Kristen. ;-) I've made far bigger messes in my time, however.
Kristen, you're not that messy, but you can attest to how messy this is for me. ;)
It looks great to me - far neater than where I sit right now! In fact there is something intriguing about your writing space. Its as if I want to lean closer and gain clues to the story being created from this research. Kat :-)
I've seen a lot worse and I am often the cause of it. I do agree that being organized makes a big difference when it is time to get some writing done.
I love seeing other writer's desks! I'm so nosy!
Kat, I guess I've learned that I can't work amongst disorder, or else all I want to do is clean, which is what I did immediately after taking the photo. ;) If you lean too close you'll find pages of notes and photocopies of articles to be read. *sigh*
Chad, organization is so key for me. I see I'll have to work harder at disorder to impress you lot!
Me too, Paige! I love peeking at the ways other writers work.
