Friday the 13th

Spook-ay! Okay, not really. I've never bought into the superstitious ideas about this date, but then again I've never watched any of the movies either because I hate horror flicks (of course I know the superstition behind Fri the 13 didn't begin with the movies, I'm just saying...). We live near the Winchester House, which has Friday the 13th celebrations including ringing 13 bells at 13:00 hours and flashlight tours at night, which would be creepy though I'm sure they manage to botch the job in a Disneyland-fake sort of way. If you've never been there, it is a very fascinating house with quite an interesting story.

Increasingly I find myself wanting to traipse up to the top of a tall building and rip up my writing and throw it out across the sky. "Ha ha! Annoying pesky little words, fly away now." But then of course I'd come running down the stairs in tears crying, "my work, all my precious work, so many hours wasted!" while I try to scoop up the remains of the floating scraps of paper. It's partly my fault because I have become a master of procrastination. Just look at the ever-growing list of wonderful bloggers that I read on my sidebar--not that it's a waste of time, it's very helpful to read about the struggles of other writers. It's mostly because I feel I've bitten off more than I can chew with this story. The topic is just too big. I feel inadequate to the task, and it's my first novel so I'm still working out all the quirks of writing a novel. I mull over this story all day long, I have trouble falling asleep because it's in my mind, and yet when I try to write, the words stumble and trip over each other or they will not come at all. I just want to shout: AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
And now you know. Thank you for listening, goodbye, and have a nice weekend.

If you ran up to the top of a tall building to destroy your story, I would run after you and you KNOW these power legs could take you! I'd tackle you before you reached the top and slap some sense into you. Yes, I'm THAT good of a friend. ;-)

then, angie, you and Kris could arm-wrestle to see who was going to get their way. and you'd know it'd have to be arm-wrestling, because we all remember what happened the last time the two of you just did regular wrestling. ;)

Hi Angie... thanks for your sweet words on my blog!

You know, I don't think writing gets any easier, no matter how any novels you write!

Feel free to join the 'novel racers' - the support is fab and it's good to get the feedback from others in the same boat. The more the merrier...

Thanks for stopping by and leaving a nice note, spiral skies. I'm interested in the novel racers...I'm checking out Kate's original 'rules' to read more about it.
Cheers!
