Done

I spent most of last night and all of today finishing the gift project I mentioned yesterday, but it is finally done. Yay! I'm off to take Drew for a long walk and then it's girls' night dinner and a movie (Gar, more pirates for me!). Hopefully this weekend I'll get a chance to start up my writing/editing again because next Thursday we're off to Oregon for a long weekend trip for my little sister's graduation, and I know I won't get any work done while we're gone, as much as I'd like to pretend I will. Hopefully I will get some reading in while we're driving (I don't get car sick very easy) because my reading progress has been slow lately. I've been reading Interpreter of Maladies for a few weeks and I'm only halfway in. I love Lahiri's writing style. It's very lyrical and it reads the way I want my own writing to read. I found The Namesake un-put-downable, and even though I enjoy this book, I find myself reading it less. I do have a harder time getting absorbed in short story collections though because as soon as you get into the character or storyline, it climaxes and it's over. I find it less satisfying than reading a novel. (Okay sounds like I'm purposely making a sexual analogy here. I swear I'm not, yet it's making me snicker, so I'm leaving it.) Anyway, I hope to finish it this weekend so I can hit the ever-growing to be read pile. I was thinking of reading The Historian next, but it's pretty long and I need to reread Harry Potter 6 before the 7th book comes out, because you know I'll be reading it the day it hits bookstores, and I don't want to get halfway through a book and then neglect it. Perhaps I'll pick up a shorter read. The Thirteenth Tale, Sixpence House, and 84, Charing Cross Road (though it does come with a (short) sequel) are in my pile and they look good. Hmm. If anyone has read these books, I'd appreciate a recommendation.

I love the new layout - especially the pic at the top. Is that you? Being you where you live?

Cool... I'm envious... am coming to live with you forever!!

(Hey, seriously, if you ever fancy a house-swap holiday one day, shout!)

PS - you're gonna tell me it's bloomin London now, aren't you?!?!?!?!

But still...

(Why don't I go to London more often? It's only an hour on the train! Am becoming a country bumpkin!)

Thank you, Jen! Yes that's me in my favorite bloomin London. ;) House swaps sound cool...though I wouldn't call my place a house, it's a bit small for that.
Why don't you go to London more? The English countryside sounds divine too. *sigh* I'm jealous. I wish I lived an hour away. I'll just have to plan for my next trip instead.

When you plan your next trip to London, let me know... would be cool to meet up!!

No idea why I don't go to London more... I used to live in Jersey (Channel Islands off the coast of France) and I visited London far more then despite it involving lots of cost and flights. Odd. Must make more effort.

Jen that would definitlely be cool. I think it'll be awhile though...vacation is wasted on weddings this year. ;)
