Motherly? Who me?

I am so motherly, it’s embarrassing. Today Drew is getting his first full groom at the pet store and when I left him, I felt like a mom dropping off her young child at daycare for the first time. I was nervous. Very silly really, but I know he has separation anxiety and they will put him in a kennel when they are working on other dogs, and I’m worried he’s going to cry and/or bark the entire time and work himself up into a tizzy. I know it will be good for him, I’m just dreading them calling me to say, ‘You need to pick up your dog because he won’t stop barking so we can’t groom him.’ And this is why I don’t have kids yet (besides the fact that I’m still young, of course). I will be a total smothering overbearing mother and I hate that.
I’m at the coffee shop now and I’m supposed to be working on the novel writing, so I better get to it. I need to be efficient today because I have a bunch of errands to run while Drew is getting groomed.
Ciao.

Hey Angie

Aww, my heart goes out to you. Why shouldn't you feel separation anxiety when your dog goes for grooming. You are attached, you care, you want him (or is it a her?) to be happy, you don't think anyone else can look after him as well as you, when he is away you fret, you really, really love him. What better preparation for being a loving mother?

Hope your writing goes well. I write and study best in coffee shops. I like the noise and bustle, makes me more productive, puts me more out in the world, less isolated.

Getting the chance to be around people is so important when you are self employed. I work from home and have now got to know when I just have to go to the gym and connect with other humans. Otherwise I get cabin fever. Do you find that too?

No wonder the poor dog has separation anxiety, I mother him too much! ;)
I love working in coffee shops too. It's a nice change of pace and I like people-watching and being amidst the bustle. I do get cabin fever too. However, the best part about working from home is that I can hole away in my home when I don't feel like being around people. I used to work in a cubicle farm and that was not an option. Now I just go out when I want to be around people.
