Oh deary me. I am developing pathetic writerly tendencies, such as planning my story whilst trying to focus on hubby's discussion of work--most of which I do not understand. I find myself thinking 'Oh, Jack's eyes are the exact color of husband's. How could I describe xx's reaction when she first sees his eyes without sounding cliche? What is it that attracts Jack to xx? Oh, pay attention! What did hubby just say?' And etc. Such a bad habit. I used to be such a good listener. That habit isn't nearly as annoying (to me anyway) as novel ideas popping into my head just as I'm drifting off to sleep. I'm guessing writing won't ever quite be a 9-5 for me, it's more like 9-12, 2-6, 10-1. Pah.

Exactly the same thing happens to me! My head hits the pillow and all these ideas and thoughts pop up - it's very annoying.

I have heard it suggested that you need notebooks scattered everywhere in the house so that all ideas can be written down instead of forgotten

I've had that 'inspiration striking' just as I'm about to fall off to sleep too. If I weren't so lazy I'd get up and write. But I never do. :(

Random bits of inspiration typically strike when I'm in the shower. And in there, a notebook would just get so soggy. ;-)

Hellojed, It is annoying. I don't see why they can't arrive with me to the desk first thing in the morning!

Pierre, Thanks for stopping by. I have a few notebooks scattered about, including one by the bed to help with the nighttime epiphanies.

Rebecca, I never used to get up and write down the ideas, but I do now (that's where my novel idea came from, so thank goodness I wrote it down!), but since I indulge them, they seem to come more frequently. Hmm.

Kris, Oh yes, the shower inspirations are wonderful. By the time I'm dried off, I can't remember what was so brilliant. Grr.
