Giants and Packages

(Not to be confused with Giant Packages, you understand.)

AT&T Park is one of my favorite stadiums with its bayview setting.

Here's the lovely view from the ramp as we walked up, up, up to the tippy top. That's the bay bridge in the background.

The view from the nosebleed section was fantastic
...even if the Giants allowed five runs in the first five innings, followed by a grand slam. Good thing I merely root for the Giants, and I'm really a Red Sox girl. (Although they're quite good at breaking your heart too. I lived in Boston during the 2003 season when Boston lost to NY--who else--in game 7 of the American League Championship. *sob*)

Yesterday I was tired and moving slowly through my tasks, but I received this in the mail, which perked me up. There's a present for someone special (obscured from view), a new book by Husband's uncle, who is a martial arts expert and corrections officer at a prison in Oregon, and my cave-in purchase of Garden Spells. I had to buy it or I would've lost the free shipping offer. (I've been dying to buy this book for ages but resisted forever because my tbr pile is ridiculously huge, but I am weak.)

Hope everyone is enjoying Wimbledon. It's so much easier to watch now that we have Tivo!

Is that the American cover of Garden Spells (Sarah Addison Allen)? The UK cover is so beautiful, very tactile with glitter. I always find the changing of covers to meet markets fascinating ... I should get out more!

Yes, it has a lovely garden with beautiful fruit. Now I have to check out the UK cover! (I love looking at how covers change as well. :)

p.s. Caroline, her website has all the different covers:

Strange how different they can be, but fun.

Great pics. LOVE that view! :-)

Packages (of all kinds) are always fun. ;-)

SF's stadium is one of the best looking in baseball. Looks like you had a great day for the game, too.

My "to be read" pile is rediculous, too...but I'm working on it. Enjoy the reading!

The size of my TBR pile never deters me from buying a new book. Sure - I feel guilty. But it's oh so easy to press the 'place your order' button. And the thrill felt when new book(s) arrive is magic. Kat

PS - of course, the guilt felt when I tell the kids there's no food left is slightly upsetting. At those times I like to lose myself in a good book....

Yvonne, a Federer vs Nadal matchup would be the best to watch. My fingers are crossed that Federer will win and continue on toward a record.

Kristen, maybe I should've got you a Giant Package instead of a losing ticket? *sniggers*

Chad, SF stadium is gorgeous as was the weather, luckily.
Books are so hard to resist. Looking forward to starting this one.

Kat, me neither, and I suffer from the guilt too. New books packages are magic.
Glad I only have a small dog to feed! ;)

That collection of Garden Spells covers is very interesting - thank you for the link.
Looking at you lovely pictures of Giants stadium, don't they have a horizontal (or sloping) fence to catch the balls that are fouled back from home plate? No wonder you talk about the "nosebleed section". And you do get an interesting view if the game is boring...
Finally, an off-topic comment: I miss that picture of you on the South Bank.

Pierre, I think you can just see the fence behind home plate in the first pic. The view was lovely, if a bit high up.
That's funny, I was thinking about putting that picture back up...
