Grace

I may have mentioned before that I'm a bit clumsy. (Thus the nickname Grace in high school.) I'm actually quite good at it though. I trip so often that I rarely ever fall. The last time I actually fell, I was back home, hiking here: Sadly, the picture makes my fall look much more dignified than it was. I didn't fall on one of the steep grades--though I tripped there as well--no, I fell on a flat gravel trail, right around here: After taking some pictures, I ran to catch up with my friends, and as usual I wasn't looking where I was going. I ripped my favorite jeans, but by sleight of hand, I did save our brand new camera, at the expense of my forearm.

So back to the present. Friday evening I'm in San Francisco celebrating with a friend. We're walking and chatting, and naturally I'm not watching where I'm going, which is dangerous enough given the state of the pavement there, but worse considering the 4" wedges I was wearing. I began crossing the street and in mid-sentence, before I can even finish saying Victori--BAM! I'm on the ground, in the middle of the street, in front of a car. *sigh* At least I saved my brand new jeans this time.

Oh no! I'm sorry to admit that I did laugh out loud at your post...

Do any of your characters have a klutzy side?

No worries...I began hysterically laughing the moment I peeled myself off the pavement, and husband and my friend were cracking up as well. You get used to it when you're around me. ;)

Not in the current WIP, no, but I may capitalize on it in another story.

I fall over all the time too. I even fell into a room full of people once ... sigh ... we should form a club.

Lane, ow is right...and my new jeans this time!
Thank you. It's called Smith Rock, in central Oregon, and is a rock-climbing haven (though I only hike there).

Kristen, seriously! I guess every two years isn't too bad. ;)

Caroline, you too? (*whispers* I fell in front of my whole school - once in junior high and once more in high school!)
A club sounds lovely! Perhaps SC can be the judge? ;)

OMG. No, I'm not laughing, I'm just worried about you. I'm forever falling off my flip flops and tearing my linen trousers ... although I never thought of myself as clumsy - maybe I should.

If you're gonna trip, what a beautiful place to do it - those mountains look heavenly. I'm a bit on the clumsy side myself, so I sympathise - why does it always have to happen in public though?? Sods law? Or the god of humiliation havin' a laugh??Kat :-)

Ouch! I'm sure that the Save the Jeans Foundation will be pleased to know about your sacrifice, though.

Poor you. I'm always tripping over nothing at all and have to take my flipflops off to go up the stairs otherwise I will definately fall over. So infuriating.

JJ, feel free to laugh. (I'm terrible, but I always laugh when people fall, unless they're really hurt.)
It's those tricky flip flops tripping you up!

Kat, very true, I could enjoy my surroundings while falling at Smith Rock, though the same can't be said about the dirty pavement of SF. Ew!
Murphy's law sayeth if you must trip, it must be seen or how will anyone know you've tripped. ;)

Chad, haha, love it. The StJF was in awe of my self-sacrifice. Wonder if I'll get a reward?

Debs, I trip over nothing frequently too. I'm also always banging my shins on the edge of tables or catching my shoulders and elbows on doorjambs - I'm always bruised. I think I'm spatially-challenged.
