My doctor called this morning with the results from my blood test last week. Good news and bad: great cholesterol, no anemia, but I have hypothyroidism and I have to start taking hormone replacement therapy TODAY. Apparently if you let it go, it can get quite serious (she said people have lapsed into comas), but the treatment is simple. At least I now know why I was feeling like crap for the last few months.
I did finish my chapter last night, so that was gratifying even if I'm not completely thrilled with the result. I'm going to put the chapter away for a little while and continue on with the next chapter and hope that as I continue I'll get some inspiration for the changes that need to be made to improve the chapter. It felt very cliched and unoriginal and I was trying to show and not tell, but it felt like I was just blathering on telling the story rather than showing it. Happily this next chapter should be much easier to write, partially because I'm already 7 pages into it, but also because I'm writing from the voice of a different character, who is much easier to write.

Sounds scary but you're taking the news well. A friend of mine had hypothyroidism and she took to the treatment very well.
Congratulations on finishing the chapter! I know what you mean about not being completely happy, I guess the trick is to trust you rewriting ability. Sometimes you just have to 'blurt' it out and shape it later.
I was bummed at the news, yet relieved to know that the symptoms weren't all in my head. I hear treatment goes well for most people, so that is encouraging.
Yes, I'm trying to learn that lesson now. :) I guess that's where those editing skills come in handy, eh?
Hello Angie - Thank you for visiting mine in the Bangkok night! We have lots in common (ugly cakes, spiders, migraine, hypothyroidism - 14 years and I'm not a cretin yet as least not medically diagnosed) so I will be back to peruse in more detail over the coming days...
Thanks for stopping by JJ. I guess there are a lot of us out there (migraine, hypothyroidism, etc.) I did not know the etymology of the word cretin related to thyroid deficiency...how very interesting!
